“When faced with radical crisis, when the old way of being in the world, of interacting with each other and with the realm of nature doesn't work any more, when survival is threatened by seemingly insurmountable problems, an individual human - or species - will either die or become extinct or rise above the limitations of their condition through an evolutionary leap. This is the state of humanity now, and this is its challenge.”
(Eckhart Tolle, "A New Earth: Awakening to your life's Purpose", Penguin, 2005)

"A new species is arising on the planet. It is arising now, and you are it!"

Mixed by Nicholas Miller

02/Desolate - Aviance (2011)
03/Northern Japan engulfed in destruction (2011)
04/Dinah Washington & Max Richter - This Bitter Earth (2004)

09/Eckhart Tolle - “When faced with radical crisis, when the old way of being in the world, of interacting with each other and with the realm of nature doesn't work any more, when survival is threatened by seemingly insurmountable problems, an individual human - or species - will either die or become extinct or rise above the limitations of their condition through an evolutionary leap" (2005)
10/Kreidler - New Earth (2011)
11/Eckhart Tolle - "What is arising now is not a new belief system, a new religion, spiritual ideology, or mythology...the change goes deeper than the content of your mind, deeper than your thoughts..." (2005)
12/Cell - Calling (2009)
13/Eckhart Tolle - "There are many accounts of people who experienced that emerging new dimension of consciousness as a result of tragic loss at some point in their lives. Some lost all of their possessions, others their children or spouse, their social position, reputation, or physical abilities. In some cases, through disaster or war, they lost all of these simultaneously and found themselves with “nothing”. We may call this a limit-situation. Whatever they had identified with, whatever gave them their sense of self, had been taken away. Then suddenly and inexplicably, the anguish or intense fear they initially felt gave way to a sacred sense of Presence, a deep peace and serenity and complete freedom from fear" (2005)
14/Sussan Deyhim and Techno Animal - Last Reading (1999)
15/Desolate - Follow Suit (2011)
16/Eckhart Tolle - War is a mindset. In certain cases, you may need to protect yourself or someone else from being harmed by another, but beware of making it your mission to "eradicate evil," as you are likely to turn into the very thing you are fighting against. Fighting unconsciousness will draw you into unconsciousness yourself. Unconsciousness, dysfunctional egoic behavior, can never be defeated by attacking it. Even if you defeat your opponent, the unconsciousness will simply have moved into you, or the opponent reappears in a new disguise. Whatever you fight, you strengthen, and what you resist, persists. These days you frequently hear the expression "the war against" this or that, and whenever I hear it, I know that it is condemned to failure. There is the war against drugs, the war against crime, the war against terrorism, the war against cancer, the war against poverty, and so on" (2005)
17/Biosphere - Kobresia (1997)
18/Deniz Kurtel - Equilibrium (2011)

25/Nadja Lind - Shakes (Hatikvah Remix) (2011)
26/Eckhart Tolle - "According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, medical treatment is the third-leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer in the United States. Homeopathy and Chinese medicine are two examples of possible alternative approaches to disease that do not treat the illness as an enemy and therefore do not create new diseases.” (2005)
27/Desolate - In Secret (2011)
28/Efdemin - Nighttrain (Efdemin Dub) (2011)
29/The Shawshank Redemption - "I guess it comes down to a simple choice really get busy living or get busy dying" (1994)
30/Red Rack'em - How I Program (2011)
31/Adriano Filippucci - The Day After (Original Reprise) (2009)
32/Eckhart Tolle - By far the greater part of violence that humans have inflicted on each other is not the work of criminals or the mentally deranged, but of normal, respectable citizens in the service of the collective ego. One can go far as to say that on this planet “normal” equals insane" (2005)
33/Roman Fluegel, Benjamin Fehr (aka Ffwd) - Stay At Home, Read A Book - Roman Fluegel Remix (2011)
34/Desolate - Avian Flu (2011)
35/Eckhart Tolle - "Can human beings lose the density of their conditioned mind structures and become like crystals or precious stones, so to speak, transparent to the light of consciousness? Can they defy the gravitational pull of materialism and materiality and rise above identification with form that keeps the ego in place and condemns them to imprisonment within their own personality? The possibility of such a transformation has been the central message of the great wisdom teachings of humankind. The messengers—Buddha, Jesus, and others, not all of them known—were humanity's early flowers. They were precursors, rare and precious beings. A widespread flowering was not yet possible at that time, and their message became largely misunderstood and often greatly distorted. It certainly did not transform human behavior, except in a small minority of people"
36/Desolate - Cathartic (2011)
37/Clara Moto - Deer and Fox (2 Kolobovsky Pereulok Remix by dOP) [feat. Mimu] (2011)
38/Eckhart Tolle - "Most ancient religions and spiritual traditions share the common insight—that our normal state of mind is marred by a fundamental defect. However, out of this insight into the nature of the human condition, we may call it the bad news, arises a second insight—the good news of the possibility of a radical transformation of human consciousness. In Hindu teachings (and sometimes in Buddhism also), this transformation is called enlightenment" (2005)
39/Desolate - Pain (2011)
40/Nina Simone - Feeling Good (Nicolas Jaar Remix) (2010)
41/Desolate - Imagination (2011)

"You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig." The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (1968)

Dominant in the first 10 minutes is Stockhausen's Helicopter String Quartet (one night he dreamed he was flying above four helicopters, each carrying a member of a string quartet; he could see into and through the transparent helicopters), interwoven with many classic movie samples to full dramatic effect. From there we adjust the spacial controls and move to another observation point.

a day in the life
December 14, 2010 07:29 PM PST

"Hey. You a dreamer?" "Yeah." "Haven't seen too many of you around lately. Things have been tough lately for dreamers. They say dreaming's dead: no one does it anymore. It's not dead, it's just that it's been forgotten. Removed from our language. Nobody teaches it, so nobody knows it exists. Dreamers are banished to obscurity. I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too. By dreaming, everyday. Dreaming with our hands and dreaming with our minds. Our planet is facing the greatest problems it's ever faced, ever. So whatever you do, don't be bored. This is absolutely the most exciting time we could have possibly hoped to be alive. Things have just started." "Hey, thanks." "Not a problem!" (from "Waking Life")

A Crisis In Consciousness
October 30, 2010 06:40 PM PDT

"We were saying how very important it is to bring about in the human mind, the radical revolution. The crisis, is a crisis in consciousness. A crisis that cannot anymore accept the old norms, the old patterns, the ancient traditions, and considering what the world is now, with all the misery, conflict, destructive brutality, aggression and so on. Man, is still as he was, is still violent, brutal, aggressive, inquisitive, competitive, and he has built a society along these lines."

"Our world is in crisis because of the absence of consciousness."

"We have the technological power, the engineering skills to save our planet, to cure disease, to feed the hungry, to end war; But we lack the intellectual vision, the ability to change our minds. We must de-condition ourselves from 10,000 years of bad behavior. And, it's not easy."
